In Japan, several high school students and a school nurse have banded together to escape Fujimi Private High School shortly after it was attacked by "them." The group now attempts to figure who or what was responsible for this plague, and in the meantime, attempt to survive the present apocalypse.

The end of Hunter x Hunter?

Saturday, September 18, 2010

The Hunter x Hunter manga has been suffering from multiple prolonged hiatuses (the manga is currently on hiatus, again). This is due to the mangaka Yoshihiro Togashi being on sick leave. For now, all HxH fans can do is hope Togashi gets better soon. The HxH Anime is finished with the Greed Island story arc & has closely followed the manga (volume 18, chapter 185 of the manga). Beyond that, I doubt they'll continue with the Anime as the following chimaera ant story arc in the manga sucks (a lot) compared to the previous arcs. But if you're interested, the manga is still ongoing (with numerous hiatuses) volume 27, chapter 310 being the latest release.

Meido Kafe Craze!

Friday, September 17, 2010

"Okaerinasaimase, goshujinsama"
Imagine these cute Japanese girls in maid or lolita costume and greets you like that with a sweet voice in a cafe. Then serves you with tea and slowly stir it for you. If I would experience something like that then I can already die happily. Seriously!
Meido Kafe or Maid Cafe is taking not only Japan but also different parts of the world by storm! Maid Cafe's are so popular right now that almost all of cafe's in Japan are maid cafe, if not then lies in the same category. Due to the fact that most of the people in japan are otakus, a smart businessman thinked of a way how to make a profit out of them. And so the meido craze begun!
In maid cafes, typical manga-style maids serve tea and cakes. Unlike "ordinary" cafés, maids serve customers as if they were their masters. For example, staff sometimes kneel on the ground to mix sugar or milk in teas or other drinks. The purpose of the maid cafés and their service is to make customers feel at home and relaxed. Although exemplary customer service is typical of Japan, maid cafés take special care to pamper their patrons. In some maid cafes you can pay extra for a maid to play a simple game with you or have your photo taken with them. Isnt that amazing? Many maid cafes restrict the length of time you can spend there without placing additional orders or paying to play games. There is definitely no sexual overtones about the whole situation. Awww!!! Hahaha, but dont be said dear otakus, there is always the photo opportunity with them right? Better than nothing! Haha. So for all the otakus out there that wants to experience a feeling of a lifetime, better look for a Maid Cafe near you, or if there were none, better yet to save money and go to Japan. Hahaha

Whats with JPOP?

Theres something about the Japanese culture that I'm so into right now, I'm not talking about anime, manga or cosplay, its about the Japanese Music specifically Jpop and Jrock. Remember how you sing your heart out loud whenever an anime episode starts or end? The emotions when you say "kamihikouki ga tonde yuku yo nando mo kaze ni..." (lyrics from Hajime no Ippo) or when you sing " I realize the screaming pain, hearing loud in my brain..." (Sign by Flow, Naruto Shippuuden)? Though we dont understand what the song means but when we sing it we charish every words and emotions from it. The artistic of Japanese literary, it really fascinates me a lot.

Who is Midori Kanda?

C.C. of Code Geass The best/most realistic and most kawaii japanese cosplayer I know. Though I only know 2 japanese cosplayers, and she's one of them, lol. Midori Kanda is simply amazing! She always fascinates me and make me wow whenever she wear those really cute costumes of her. Some of her cosplays that I really like are her Yoko(from Gurren Langann), Black Rock Shooter cosplay, Miku Hatsune cosplay and my very favorite of them all, her C.C.(from Code Geass) cosplay. I really like it when she cosplays because of how realistic her character was, from the costume itself up to her actions. It seems like she is the real character and as if she was brought to the real world.
Miku Hatsune, Vocaloid
Yoko of Gurren Langann
Black Rock Shooter Aisaka Taiga of ToraDora Asuka Langley, Neon Genesis Evangelion

The Otaku Murderer

As we all know, otaku is a japanese term those people obsessed in anime, games, manga, cosplay and whatever things they are obsessed about. But not all otakus are like that, one otaku in the name of Tsutomu Miyazaki is a very special one, due to the fact that he's not only obsessed in animes etc but with little girls, their blood and killing them afterwards. Yes, due to his desire for little girls, blood and murder, he was named/dubbed as "The Otaku Murderer", "Dracula" and "The Little Girl Murderer".
Miyazaki's premature birth left him with deformed hands, which were permanently gnarled and fused directly to the wrists, necessitating him to move his entire forearm in order to rotate the hand. Due to his deformity, he was ostracized when he attended Itsukaichi Elementary School, and consequently kept to himself. Although he was originally a star student, his grades at Meidai Nakano High School dropped dramatically; he had a class rank of 40 out of 56 and did not receive the customary admission to Meiji University. Instead of studying English and becoming a teacher as he originally intended, he attended a local junior college, studying to become a photo technician.

AKIRA (English Dubbed)

Thursday, September 16, 2010

AKIRA (アキラ) is a 1988 Japanese animated action film written and directed by Katsuhiro Otomo based on his hit manga. The film is set in a futuristic and post-war city, Neo-Tokyo, in2019. While most of the character designs and basic settings were adapted from the original 2182-page manga epic, the restructured plot of the movie differs considerably from the print version, pruning much of the last half of the manga. The film became a hugely popular cult filmand is widely considered to be a landmark in Japanese animation and film. Akira is simply timeless and epic.

Alodia Gosiengfiao as Misa Misa

Alodia Gosiengfiao probably if not the cutest, the best cosplayer here in the Philippines. She's known here as a Cosplay Queen due to various cosplay competitions she had won. Despite of her cool/kawaii and uber realistic cosplays, she is also a model, graphic artist, fashion designer and a host. Recently she was invited for San Diego Comic Con and was part of a documentary film of Legendary Pictures, the producer of big films like Batman Begins, 300 and Inception. So enough with the chit chat or else I'll get you bored, here are some of her Misa Amane cosplays from Death Note, just like what the title of this posts says, enjoy... ^_^

Spirited Away

One of the best anime movies I've ever seen. Deeply mysterious, and psychologically depth. Hayao Miyazaki is a one brilliant and artistic director. The story is about a girl named Chihiro. The film won various awards like Best Animated Feature and the first anime film to won an Academy Awards.
The movie starts with ten-year-old Chihiro and her parents as they move to a new town, much to Chihiro's displeasure. While driving, they get lost and her father decides to take a shortcut down a mysterious forested pathway. After a short but bumpy drive, the family comes to a stop at what seems to be an abandoned theme park. Curious, the father leads his family through a tunnel and explores the park, finding a deserted town and a stall full of freshly-cooked food. The parents greedily help themselves while Chihiro refuses to eat. As Chihiro's parents are eating, she wanders off and meets a boy named Haku. Haku seems to be familiar with Chihiro and warns her to escape with her parents; she returns to find they have turned into pigs, and that the way back has become a deep river. Spirits appear and go about the park. Haku secretly takes Chihiro to a large bathhouse to avoid alerting the spirits to her presence. Haku then tells her that she must get a job from the boiler man, Kamajii until he can help her recover her parents and escape.

Final Fantasy Versus XII Gameplay?

Since 2006, we've been shown very few trailers of Final Fantasy Versus XIII and as of now, there is very little information on the game itself and how it will play. We know it will be on the PlayStation 3, and it is set in the world of Final Fantasy XIII. Like Final Fantasy Agito XIII, it's part of the Fabula Nova Crystallis Final Fantasy XIII compilation. The most interesting piece of information that was revealed in the trailer at the 2010 Tokyo Game Show, is that a Fabula Nova Crystallis conference is going to be held on January 11, 2011.
The Final Fantasy Versus XIII trailer was part of a series of incredibly brief trailers that showed images from Final Fantasy XIII as well as Final Fantasy Agito XIII. We saw the main character, a young man with short black hair wander through several completely deserted areas. First it was a barren landscape, then it switched to a deteriorated roadway, and eventually we see him in the city, where it was just him fighting a giant behemoth. The quick fight scene showed him jumping and slashing furiously at the beast. Any hint of color or life in the trailer was limited to the spurts of red blood, coming from the behemoth, which stood out against the mostly dark and grey environment. There was nothing else on screen that would give us any clues as to how this game is set up other than it looks to be a 3D action game.

Black Rock Shooter

Black Rock Shooter (ブラック★ロックシューター Burakku Rokku Shūtā), stylized as "Black★Rock Shooter", is a 2010 Japanese original video animation (OVA) produced by Yutaka Yamamoto's studio Ordet and directed by Shinobu Yoshioka. The 50-minute OVA is based on the song of the same name by Supercell and its accompanying music video with illustrations by Huke. Musical composer Ryo and Huke, both members of Supercell, collaborated on the project. A "Pilot Edition" of the anime was released on DVD and Blu-ray Disc (BD) in September 2009, and the full version was released on DVDs bundled with select magazines from July 24, 2010 and is subtitled in seven languages.
Plot/Characters
Black Rock Shooter begins at the start of the school year in April. On her first day of junior high school, Mato Kuroi (黒衣 マト Kuroi Mato, Voiced by: Kana Hanazawa) makes friends with a girl named Yomi Takanashi (小鳥遊 ヨミ Takanashi Yomi, Voiced by: Miyuki Sawashiro) who recently moved to the town. Mato quickly joins the basketball club, which incites Yomi to join the volleyball club since both clubs practice at the same time in the gymnasium. The two spend much time together over the following year, and during one outing Mato gives Yomi the same cellphone charm she has. In their second year of junior high, they end up in different classes, reducing the amount of time they can spend together. Furthermore, Yomi starts to become jealous of Mato hanging around her basketball club manager and classmate Yuu (ユウ, Voiced by: Kana Asumi).
